Support the Hinshaw ‘Ohana on GivingTuesday

Serena loves rainbows and unicorns. With chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and multiple stem cell/bone marrow transplants, she has a 50% chance of survival.

Our ‘ohana here at Jules + Gem HI was heartbroken after hearing the story of the Hinshaw family, whose three-year-old daughter Serena was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma (a type of cancer that forms in certain types of nerve tissue that most frequently starts from one of the adrenal glands but can also develop in the neck, chest, abdomen, or spine). This year, we were all faced by the unprecedented challenges that 2020 has presented, so it truly hurt us to hear that on top of that, the Hinshaw ‘ohana is faced with yet another hurdle. Because of this, we were inspired to support them on this #GivingTuesday.

For those of you not familiar with this day, GivingTuesday refers to the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States. According to the official website, it was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

"This is my three-year-old baby. She has Stage 4 Neuroblastoma and she has a 50% chance. Most will relapse and the second round it's a 5% chance. I don't know how but we're going to make it through this. Pray to give me strength please. I really need strength for her, we need it to stay alive."

-Jessica Hinshaw, Serena's mother

In recognition of GivingTuesday, we will be donating $500 plus ALL sales generated on our site today. Please join us in shopping with us and supporting the Hinshaw's on their journey to fight Serena's cancer, or you may donate directly to the family via Venmo (@yessika and @TK-Hinshaw).

Xoxo,

Lana and the Jules + Gem HI ‘ohana
