Local Businesses We're In LOVE With This February <3

We cannot believe it is February already! As a month that is known for gifting and love, we wanted to share our love for some amazing small local businesses! As a small local business ourselves, we value the aspect of community that allows us to help one another bloom and grow together. Here are some of our staffs’ picks for their favorite small local businesses at the moment!

LANA'S PICK: Arlie Glass

Based on the North Shore of O’ahu, Arlie Pemberton creates unique, handmade glass creations inspired by island flora along with the “act of making and giving lei.” She uses a “free form flameworking technique” and shapes the glass into beautiful pua over a 2200 degree flame.

Here are some words from Lana:

“I love Arlie Glass!  The beauty of the flowers Arlie chooses to create in a glass form is just so unique.  As someone who loves to decorate their space, these glass pieces are perfect for home decor.  The anthuriums are my fave!"

Arlie Glass offers jewelry, glass straws and individual pua perfect for displaying in your space!

SHAWNA'S PICK: Tamiko Claire Stoneware

Tamiko Claire, who commonly goes by Tommy, creates art inspired by her Japanese-American background and living in Hawaiʻi. Her studio "offers heart-filled, handmade ceramic pieces with clean lines and earthy roots." Tommyʻs pieces are perfect dishware for your favorite ʻonos and beautifully natural decor for your home.

Here are some words from Shawna:

LINDSAY'S PICK: Kūmana Activewear

Kūmana Activewear is a Native Hawaiian owned business that creates clean and comfortable activewear from plastic pollution pulled from the ocean. Using the most environmentally-conscious processes possible, they give a new and more meaningful life to what was otherwise producing waste. The word Kūmana means to stand strong with power, not only in health and fitness, but also personal and spiritual well-being.

Here are some words from Lindsay:

"I first found out about Kūmana Activewear through social media and was immediately intrigued by the brand and loved knowing that the focus was being environmentally friendly! This brand has a focus on inspiring a healthy lifestyle in Hawai'i and I really like that they also focus on having all their products be made of recyclable materials, such as fishing nets and consumer plastics pulled from the ocean that is recycled into the material used to create their activewear.  I also like that their packaging and shipping materials are made of compostable materials.  As someone who is trying to be more eco-conscious and mindful of what I'm consuming I really like what this brand does and of course their products are cute and comfy as well!"

Kūmana Activewear also hosts beach clean-ups around Hawaiʻi to contribute to their commitment of helping to keep our oceans clean. Check out their website for more!
