5 Ways to Express Thanks

Can you believe Thanksgiving is already right around the corner?

In honor of this holiday, we’ve gathered and explained five ways to express gratitude. From gifting loved ones, to simply saying “thank you,” we’re celebrating all the big and small ways we can share our appreciation. However you choose to express thanks this season, we hope it fills your heart—and someone elses's too. 🍁

1. Simply say, "thank you"

Whether it’s over a phone call, a text, an email, or in person, directly expressing thanks is arguably the simplest and easiest way to share your gratitude for someone special. Phrases like “I appreciate you,” “Thank you for your time,” “I couldn’t have done it without you,” or “You are the best,” are little things that could go a long way. Plus, the impact might be larger than you can imagine; it’s a moment they might always remember.

2. Give a gift

Gift-giving is a common practice to present your love and appreciation in a tangible manner. We do it all the time — from birthdays to Christmas, anyone can give or receive a gift. Some of the best gifts are the ones that feel personal and useful. So, when choosing a thank-you gift this season, look for something that reflects both sincerity and practicality. Consider Jules & Gem Hawai‘i’s hand soaps, for example, in the most fitting scent. Maybe Guava Nectar or Mango Coconut? Whichever you choose will surely delight the senses and remind your recipient that they were on your mind.

3. write and deliver a letter

Handwritten letters are a powerful tool to communicate thanks. Unfortunately, the “old-school” method of hand-writing letters and either mailing or giving them out directly have diminished in a world full of technology. But if you think about it, the act of sitting down and writing by hand creates a tangible connection that shows the reader they are valued and worth your time and efforts. Research also suggests it enhances cognition, creativity, and social skills.

We challenge you to grab a pen and paper and let your thoughts flow. Take a few minutes to write a quick note of gratitude to a friend, coworker, or loved one. You’ll be surprised at how meaningful the gesture can be.

4. Host a get-together

What better way to say thanks to those you love than hosting a get-together! Whether it’s a Thanksgiving feast involving your whole family, or a quick lunch out with a few of your best friends, making an effort to spend time with people can be a big form of thanks — thank you for being here, thank you for being someone I trust, thank you for bringing joy into my life.

If you’re gathering at home, create an atmosphere that makes everyone feel appreciated. You might set the table with your favorite tablecloth or placemats, play your favorite tunes, or fill the space with scents that make people feel at home. Additions like Jules & Gem Hawai‘i candles or diffusers can transform the area and set the mood. Every little thing counts, and it’ll be sure to leave your guests feeling grateful.

5. take a self-care day

Many of us say thank you to others, but think about the last time you took the time to thank yourself. There’s always a time for self-care, and putting yourself first can greatly benefit your overall well-being. It goes a long way in helping you nurture your mind, body, and spirit. Prioritizing self-care can keep you feeling good both inside and out, so you can show up as your best self every day.
